Summer Mini-Camps
Week 1: Super Sculpture
July 9-12
We’ll create imaginative sculptures by combining familiar materials such as scrap wood, recyclables, broken toys, etc. with basic art supplies like wire, cardboard, and glue. It all begins with a treasure hunt where we choose a variety of objects to transform into a unique work of 3D art. Imagination knows no bounds this week! (Mixed ages)
Week 2: Summer Clay Studio
July 16-19
There’s nothing like the feeling of cool, squishy clay on a warm summer day! Clay is a wonderful expressive medium and is ideal for enhancing children’s development on many levels. Students will chose from a variety of project ideas while learning coil, pinch, and slab construction as well as different surface decoration techniques. All pieces will be kiln fired and glazed. (Mixed Ages)
Week 3: Clay Studio (older kids)
August 6-9
Designed for older kids (9-13), students enrolled in this class will learn clay basics including coil, pinch, and slab construction, as well as various surface decoration techniques. Project ideas and guided instruction will be available to everyone, however more advanced students are welcome to work on independent projects as well. All projects will be kiln fired and glazed.
Week 4: Mini Masterpieces
August 13-16
Kids will learn various art skills while their imaginations are actively engaged in projects that encourage creativity and skill development. They’ll get to explore a variety of art media such as paint, collage, pastels and more, all while learning the basics as well as more expressive approaches to these materials. (Mixed Ages)
